Blue-Cloud 2026 at SEAFUTURE 2025

Blue-Cloud 2026 was present with two speeches at the Green & Blue Innovation Hub.

Session “Global Ocean Observing and Governance”

• Topics covered: Emphasises open-access ocean data and MSP tools to drive the Blue Economy and EU Green Deal objectives.

Chiara ALTOBELLI, Marine scientist at the Italian National Institute of Oceanography and Applied Geophysics (OGS), presented OGS contribution to the Blue-Cloud efforts to develop a workflow to merge multi-source datasets managed by Copernicus Marine Service, EMODnet Chemistry and the World Ocean Database, together with key EU RIs and build highly qualified EOV datasets for eutrophication variables: chlorophyll, nutrients, oxygen.

  • Topics Covered: Addressing sustainability, digitalization, fleet renewal, skills development, and offshore aquaculture to make fishing future-proof

Aureliano GENTILE, Information and Knowledge Management, Fisheries and Aquaculture Division at Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), delivered a presentation about the Global Record of Stocks and Fisheries as unique identifiers in support to sustainable fisheries, developed with efforts from the Global Fisheries Atlas Virtual Lab
