This week, we highlight the upcoming Training Academy webinar, celebrate the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding with FAIR-EASE, and share insights from the first Federation Workshop in our post-event report.

This issue's highlights include:Â the 2024 UN Ocean Decade Conference satellite event on data sharing for SDGs, a webinar on FAIR data principles for marine data, and Blue-Cloud's presence at the EGU General Assembly and EOSC Tripartite Event. Key collaborations with FAIR-EASE and CLIMAREST aim to enhance Open Science in marine and earth sciences. This issue also covers Blue-Cloud's participation in the EOSC Winter School 2024 and mentions at the DITTO Summit 2023 for contributions to the EU Digital Twin of the Ocean.

2023 has been an incredible year, marking the move from a pilot project to a Federated Ecosystem of FAIR data and analytical services. New  Blue Data Infrastructures joined our federation, our Virtual Research Environment has been enriched with new, cutting-edge technologies, and our Blue-Cloud elves are at full speed to release toys..ehm.. data products for our Virtual Labs! Thank you for such great year!

Over 7-9 February 2022, the Blue-Cloud Hackathon brought together nearly 150 participants from a diverse community of marine science practitioners, computer scientists and innovators to test Blue-Cloud's web-based ecosystem of Open Science services and resources to address selected Ocean challenges. Three teams were awarded for their work towards improving aquaculture management and studying wildlife interactions.

Blue-Cloud is one of ten innovative EU projects to build ocean observation systems that provide input for evidence-based management of the ocean and the Blue Economy, which have joined forces in the strong cluster âNourishing Blue Economy and Sharing Ocean Knowledgeâ. Under the lead of the EuroSea project within the EC-funded Horizon Results Booster, the group published a joint policy brief listing recommendations for sustainable ocean observation and management.
