Big Data in Marine Science webinar
While the 7th EMB Forum on Big Data in Marine Science was postponed to 23 October 2020 due to the outbreak of the COVID-19 virus, the European Marine Board decided to hold an online session on the 29th of April, as originally scheduled.
The webinar took place from 13:00 to 15:00 CEST, and focused on the launch of the EMB Future Science Brief ‘Big Data in Marine Science’.
This document is the output from the EMB expert working group on Big Data in Marine Science. The webinar included short talks by the authors of the Future Science Brief:

- Ketil Malde (IMR, Norway)
- Matthias Obst (Univ. Gothenburg, Sweden)
- Jerry Tjiputra (NORCE, Norway)
During her presentation, Federica Foglini (CNR, Italy) mentioned the key role played by data infrastructures such as EMODnet and SeaDataNet (both included in Blue-Cloud), as well as the importance of the European Open Science Cloud in the future of marine science.
