On the 21st of January 2020, at the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting, EC President Ursula von der Leyen pointed out the value of the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC) and the high importance of data as a key resource for innovation.
Blue-Cloud fully shares these views by working towards the establishment of a thematic marine EOSC serving the Blue Economy, Marine Environment and Marine Knowledge agendas. Our project is the answer to the Horizon 2020 dedicated call for ‘The Future of Seas and Oceans Flagship Initiative’.
At the opening of the All-Atlantic Ocean Research Forum, 6-7 February 2020, Mariya Gabriel, the EU Commissioner for innovation, research, education and youth, highlighted Blue-Cloud as a key instrument for the sustainable ocean strategy.
The Blue-Cloud consortium has prepared a position paper on EOSC summarising the project's views, messages, and contributions, for the benefit of the EOSC Governance, the European Commission, and all other parties involved in the development of the European Open Science Cloud.
