Coastal Current from Observations VLab

The "Coastal Current from Observations VLab" is a Virtual Laboratory/Environment held by Blue Cloud. This VLab contains an interpolation framework that aim to use only observations to reconstruct surface currents over the Mediterranean Sea. This is done with JupyterNotebook and Julia language code. The used interpolation framework is called DIVAnd_HFRadar and is documented here: https://github.com/gher-uliege/DIVAnd_HFRadar.jl/tree/master The interpolation is carried with three sources of observations: - Drifters (in-situ) - Satellite (remote) - High Frequency Radars (remote) And validated with an independent subset of drifters. The results of the interpolation are then used to correct the surface current reanalysis model of the Mediterranean Sea. The corrected model is then used within MEDSLIK-II to forecast oil spill.
