Blue-Cloud at EOSC Symposium 2023
ONE EVENT, MANY DIFFERENT EOSC STAKEHOLDERS
From 20-22 September 2023, the EOSC Symposium will take place in Madrid, in the context of the Spanish Presidency of the Council of the European Union. The EOSC Symposium is organised by the EOSC Future project, together with the EOSC Tripartite collaboration (the EOSC Association, the EOSC Steering Board and the European Commission).
Blue-Cloud 2026 is co-organising the breakout session "EOSC contribution to the EU Missions & Partnerships" on 20 September, in collaboration with BY-COVID, FNS-Cloud and EOSC4Cancer.
20 September, 14:00-15:30 CEST - EOSC contribution to the EU Missions & Partnerships
EU Missions are an innovative approach to addressing major challenges with concrete solutions and impactful results by 2030. Through research, innovation, and collaboration, EU Missions engage citizens and mobilise resources from various stakeholders. By involving EU Member States, local authorities, research institutes, and other actors, these missions drive real and lasting change. With a focus on societal uptake, EU Missions aim to transform Europe into a greener, healthier, more inclusive, and resilient continent, benefiting people across the region.
By federating existing initiatives across disciplines and promoting the uptake of Open Science practices, EOSC is set to become a critical asset for research communities and decision makers to tackle the priorities identified in the Missions. Several thematic projects have already been funded under Horizon Europe, and in this session we will get to see how they will support and improve our response to these challenges.
The 5 missions
- Adaptation to Climate Change: support at least 150 European regions and communities to become climate resilient by 2030
- Cancer: working with Europe’s Beating Cancer Plan to improve the lives of more than 3 million people by 2030 through prevention, cure and solutions to live longer and better
- Restore our Ocean and Waters by 2030
- 100 Climate-Neutral and Smart Cities by 2030
- A Soil Deal for Europe: 100 living labs and lighthouses to lead the transition towards healthy soils by 2030
Target participants
This session is open to anyone interested in the topic, but will be particularly relevant for representatives from the following:
- Open Science Units
- EU Missions representatives
- EOSC projects working on thematic disciplines
