iMagine
Mission
iMagine aims to deploy, operate, validate, and promote a dedicated iMagine AI framework and platform, connected to EOSC and AI4EU, giving researchers in aquatic sciences open access to a diverse portfolio of AI based image analysis services and associated image training data repositories, of relevance to the overarching theme of ‘Healthy oceans, seas, coastal and inland waters’.
Collaboration with Blue-Cloud
iMagine, a sister project to AI4EOSC, has developed a portfolio of AI use cases alongside a framework and platform designed to support the development, testing, and deployment of additional AI-driven applications. These resources are of clear interest to the Blue-Cloud 2026 community, particularly for users working with image-based marine and environmental data. In turn, Blue-Cloud 2026 has offered added value to iMagine through access to marine data resources made available by its Blue Data Infrastructures, as well as through additional computing and analytical capacities. The two projects have also been exploring the integration of iMagine into the smart federation of platforms taking shape between Blue-Cloud 2026 and AI4EOSC.
The collaboration has also been reflected in joint dissemination activities. iMagine contributed to the Blue-Cloud webinar Ocean Literacy Series 3: Artificial Intelligence as a Tool for Ocean Literacy, held on 16 April 2026, where Dick Schaap iMagine Scientific Coordinator and Blue-Cloud Technical Coordinator, presented the iMagine AI platform and its relevance for aquatic science use cases. The presentation covered iMagine's AI framework, its portfolio of use cases, its integration with EOSC and AI4EU, and best practices for aquatic image analysis, further strengthening the exchange between the two initiatives and increasing the visibility of AI-based services within the Blue-Cloud community.
