Blue-Cloud is inviting stakeholders to provide input on its Strategic Roadmap to 2030 through an open consultation. This roadmap will guide the future of marine open science, supporting the development of a federated ecosystem that improves access to ocean and freshwater data, computing tools, and analytical services.
As part of the broader European Open Science Cloud (EOSC) framework, Blue-Cloud contributes to advancing FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable) data principles for the marine and freshwater research community. The initiative is also aligned with international and European policy frameworks, including the UN Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development, the EU Green Deal, and efforts towards climate neutrality by 2050.
The consultation seeks input from researchers, policymakers, industry professionals, and data providers to better define priorities for marine open science and digital services. It also aims to encourage collaboration across disciplines and sectors, ensuring that Blue-Cloud remains relevant to evolving research and policy needs. Another important aspect is to explore how Blue-Cloud can best contribute to the wider European and global open science landscape while considering long-term sustainability from technical, scientific, and policy perspectives. Contributions from stakeholders will support the development of a collaborative and accessible system that enables broader use of ocean and freshwater data for research, policy, and environmental management.
The consultation is open until 13 May 2025.
