EOSC Symposium 2024
The EOSC Symposium 2024 was a critical event on the path to EOSC post-2027. It was a key event to network and exchange ideas with policymakers, funders, and representatives of research institutions, research communities, and data- and e-Infrastructures active in the EOSC ecosystem.
The EOSC Symposium 2024 took place on 21-23 October 2024 at the H4 Hotel Alexanderplatz in Berlin, under the patronage of the German Minister for Education and Research Bettina Stark-Watzinger. The event was organised by the EOSC Association, the EOSC-A German Mandated Organisation, NFDI, with the support of the Horizon Europe project EOSC Focus, and the ZBW – Leibniz Information Centre for Economics, a member of EOSC-A Member.
The Symposium was divided into twenty-six sessions that addressed, among other things, the ambitions of the EOSC Tripartite Partnership, the EOSC Federation, the launch of the EOSC EU Node, the EOSC landscape, including the European Common Data Spaces and the Artificial Intelligence trends, and the impact and contributions of stakeholders.
The programme included six unconference sessions selected by a popular vote from submissions under the Call for Unconference Sessions. The Symposium was also an opportunity to explore further synergies and collaborations with the German National Data Infrastructure, NFDI.
Blue-Cloud 2026 at the Symposium
A Blue-Cloud 2026 Poster focused on EOSC was submitted by the Blue-Cloud team and accepted to be presented at the Symposium. In addition, Sara Pittonet Gaiarin, senior project manager at Trust-IT Services & Blue-Cloud 2026 project coordinator, was invited to join the panel titled "Thematic contributions to EOSC" on Wednesday, 23rd of October at 11:00, and delivered a presentation on "Blue-Cloud 2026: Thematic Node for marine research and an incubator for the EU DTO".
