Enhancing Data Quality in EMODnet Chemistry: Quality Control, Duplicate Checks and Product Generation

The Blue-Cloud has organised an internal training webinar on June 19 2023 with EMODnet's members. In this event, the team delved into EMODnet Chemistry's data Quality Control procedures, covering eutrophication and ocean acidity data across European Sea Basins. Part one of the event explored the "Quality Control loop" involving data originators, managers, and regional sea coordinators, utilising semi-automatic checks and expert insights. The second part focused on duplicate check methods, ensuring the removal of replicate observations. Lastly, the team discussed the methodology for creating gridded climatologies for eutrophication data at various scales in European Seas. 

Blue-Cloud EOV Workbenches

In Blue-Cloud 2026, advanced Workbenches (WBs) are being developed to streamline data handling for Essential Ocean Variables (EOV). These tools enhance data harmonisation, validation, and qualification from various sources. These novel Workbenches leverage cloud tech, AI, and advanced analytics for improved data handling. They are set to be adopted by key initiatives, consistently producing validated data collections, enhancing oceanic simulations. The EOV Workbenches cover Physics, Eutrophication, and Ecosystem-level Variables.
