Currently, many data and e-infrastructures initiatives are working to facilitate collection, access and management of data to provide scientists, agencies, the private sector and policy makers with ready-to-use tools and knowledge which can help to address grand societal challenges and guide policy decisions. And yet, worldwide initiatives remain fragmented, coordination between sometimes overlapping initiatives is insufficient, hindering the full exploitation potential of ocean big data. This round table aims at bringing together representatives of the different Atlantic data infrastructures to:
- Identify urgent gaps that need to be filled in the data collection, management and federation areas;
- Provide useful recommendations to policy makers for the effective establishment of a global Blue-Cloud;
- Design short term joint actions that can be taken forward by the workshop participants.
