ENVRI-FAIR connects the Environmental Research Infrastructure (ENVRI) community to the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC). The main objective of the ENVRI-FAIR cluster is to further develop and implement common policies, open standards, interoperability solutions, operational services, and stewardship of data on the basis of the FAIR principles. The project will enhance the efficiency and productivity of researchers, support innovation and enable data- and knowledge-based decisions and policies to respond to current global challenges such as climate change.
Several Blue-Cloud partners are already members of ENVRI-FAIR and they are making their discovery and access services FAIRer, by improving metadata richness, facilitating further uptake of controlled vocabularies, as well as developing or upgrading machine-to-machine services. The FAIR analyses developed by the cluster are directly beneficial to the Blue-Cloud project results. Cooperation will also be pursued in the area of dissemination activities, as Blue-Cloud will play a key role in the field of ocean science, a relevant part of the broader scope of the environmental sciences covered by ENVRI-FAIR.
This collaboration will help to connect the partially overlapping worlds of ocean and environmental science, exchanging results and best practices concerning the adoption of open science and FAIR principles. The full integration of services across research infrastructures is a key element for both projects, ensuring seamless access to multi-disciplinary data.
